Senator Abdul grew up in modest circumstances, working on his father’s farm from the age of five and walking tens of kilometers daily to fetch water for his family. He attended Ningi East Primary School from 1969 to 1973, followed by Government Secondary School, Misau, graduating in 1978. In 1992, he joined Hi-Tech computers as a Senior Administrative Officer and by 1995, he became the Chairman and Chief Executive of NAJ Resources Ltd., Bauchi.

Career

Ningi’s political career began in 1996 when he contested for the Bauchi state assembly under the platform of the United Nigeria Congress Party (UNCP). Although he won, the election was cancelled by the Abacha-led government. With the return to civilian rule in 1999, Ningi contested under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and won by a landslide to represent Ningi Federal constituency. He served as a member of the House of Representatives from 1999 to 2011, during which he held several key positions including House Majority Leader from 2003 to 2007.

In 2011, Ningi was elected as a Senator representing Bauchi central senatorial district, a position he held until 2015.
