Before the ruling, the judge asked about his gender; Are you a man or a woman?” Bobrisky replied, “I am a man.”

The judge then ruled that Bobrisky jail term started on March 24, 2024, the day of his arrest.

It could be recalled that on April 5th, EFCC summoned Bobrisky to court on a six-count charge ranging from Abuse of the Naira and Money laundering. The court, however, dismissed the money laundering charges but convicted him of Naira Abuse after he confessed to the crime. The court also ordered that Bobrisky be remanded in EFCC detention in Lagos until his hearing for judgment on April 9. However, the court couldn’t sit due to the April 9 to April 11 Eid-Fitri public holiday.

After his conviction last Friday, Bobrisky pleaded with the court to give him a lesser punishment while claiming that he was not aware of the law of abusing the naira.

He also said that he is a social media influencer with over five million followers which the judge then responded that ignorance of the law was not an excuse.

“I know my Lord. My lord, I wish that you could give me a second chance to use my platform to inform and educate my followers about spraying money.

“I would do a video on my page and I would educate people about spraying money.

“I will not repeat it, my lord, I regret my actions, my lord,” Bobrisky replied.
